Wrestling Sends Five Lady Trojans to Regionals

Newman Smith Wrestling will be represented in the Girls tournament by five Lady Trojans. The top four from their respective weight classes will have the opportunity to compete at the State tournament in Cypress, TX. 

Freshman Claudia Goyo (107 lbs.) was offered a spot in the Regional tournament following a 5th place finish at Districts. Due to an injury, she has the opportunity to compete in her very first year. 

Senior Captain Paulina Chavez Muro (120 lbs.) returns to Regionals after a 5th place finish one year ago. Chavez finished 3rd in the 2023 District 9-5A Tournament, improving from 4th place in 2022. 

Senior Tranyse Jones (138 lbs.) is a talented newcomer that placed 4th at the 2023 District 9-5A tournament to earn a spot in Regionals. 

Senior Captain LaShiara Wilson (185 lbs.) is a two-time District 9-5A champion at her respective weight class and returns to Regionals after a 3rd place finish one year ago. 

Senior Anali Sandoval (235 lbs.) will return to Regional action after a knee injury kept her out of competition last year. She enters this year's tournament as the District 9 Runner-Up at her respective weight class.
