RLTFB Weekly Update 9/14 - 9/18

TEAM,

With the beginning of school year elements, and the excitement and ceremony of Homecoming behind us, it's time to focus on our own growth, continuity, and improvement. There are too many good things revealed during contest and on film to ignore, but out goals in the coming weeks will be to make sure we are more consistent. This can't be exclusive to games though.

Attendance is critical, there is no substitute for physical presence and if we are realistic about honing our talents to be successful, we must all be present. We've not had a contest at the JV or Varsity level yet that hasn't presented a challenge to navigate suspensions due to attendance.

Continuity is connected to this as we must have the unity on the field so our communication, pre-snap alignments, and execution of assignment understood across the formation with all 11 members.

Grades; our past three meetings about grades have revealed gaps in expectations with what is being achieved in the classroom and what impact that would have on what we can do on the field. Our meetings about grade this week will be extra-urgent in the sense that our 6 weeks grade report will have UIL eligibility impact at the end of this week. Make sure we are following up with teacher communications, scheduled tutorials after school, and proximity of summative assessments with make-up opportunities.

Keep our eyes fixed on the goals... our non-district schedule is designed to prepare us for what we will see and what we must be prepared for to make our run through the district schedule. This week is our last chance to polish before leveraging our bye week in preparation to open district. This week will give us another objective; Mineral Wells presents another element of what we need to see on offense and defense to refine and shape our team. Be focused, be vigilant, guard yourself against distractions, and prepare for a battle.
